Vincent: "Adversity is a beautiful challenge."

The Jackets lose again, which is their 9th straight. Is this the lowest point in franchise history? Some say yes.

Alexandre Texier and Boone Jenner scored the goals for Columbus. That was about all the positives to take from this game. Even the high-powered PK gave up a goal. The powerplay was terrible, going 0-5 and generating zero shots. Jackets lose 5-2.

Three Observations

  1. The Blue Jackets had 5 power plays and managed exactly zero shots on goal. The power play has been bad for years with no fixes put in place. Zero shots on five power plays in unacceptable.
  2. Boone Jenner, Sean Kuraly, and Mathieu Olivier led the team in shots. When you have players like Johnny Gaudreau, Adam Fantilli, Kirill Marchenko, and Alexandre Texier on the team, the players who led the team on Sunday should never be leading the team in shots.
  3. The MF Doom line, aka Marchenko-Fantilli-Voronkov line, combined for a plus/minus of -8. Marchenko was a -4 on the night. That line has been good most of the year, but last night, they were not. They only combined for 4 shots on goal as well.

Player Notes

  • Boone Jenner scored his team-leading 8th goal of the season.
  • Alexandre Texier scored his 4th goal of the season. He now has points in 4 of the last 5 games.
  • Mathieu Olivier had a productive night. He had an assist, was a +1, had 5 hits, 3 shots, and a fight.
  • Ivan Provorov registered his 11th assist on the season. He has a team-leading 12 points.
