The Columbus Blue Jackets are now 0-10-5 in the last 15 games at PPG Paints Arena. I think everyone who follows the CBJ is speechless at this point.
After a scoreless back-and-forth first period, Mathieu Olivier(4) scored to make it 1-0. After a lengthy review, it was determined that Olivier did not knock it down with a high stick and past Pens goalie Alex Nedeljkovic. The goal came just five seconds after a Blue Jacket power play. Just over three minutes after Evgeni Malkin tied it at 1, Cole Sillinger(12) gave the Jackets another lead on a three-on-one breakaway. Malkin scored his second power-play goal of the period 16:11 into the period, and that's how the period would end, 2-2.
And now on to the Blue Jackets worst enemy, the third period.
Right on queue, Drew O'Connor scored 35 seconds into the period to give the Pens the lead at 3-2. And that would be it. The Blue Jackets couldn't generate any offense and would fall to the Penguins again. They were outshot 26-11 in the second and third and gave up four straight power plays in the loss.
I'll let Mathieu Olivier tell the story.
