Ivan Provorov(2), Kent Johnson(6), Sean Monahan(8), Dante Fabbro(3), Kirill Marchenko(10), and Dmitri Voronkov(6) provided the offense for the CBJ in a 6-3 Jackets win, while Elvis Merzļikins made 28 saves in the win.
This game was filled with back-and-forth scoring action, starting with Connor Bedard's power-play goal in the early minutes of the game. Shortly after Bedard scored the game-opening goal, Ivan Provorov and Kent Johnson would score the next two goals to give the Jackets the lead. From there, the Blackhawks would be the ones playing catchup. The Blue Jackets would go on to score 4 of the next 6 goals to finish the Blackhawks off.
The Blue Jackets penalty kill was downright bad on Sunday, allowing three goals on six Chicago man advantages. Elvis Merzļikins faced 12 shots on the power play and surrendered three goals. If the Blue Jackets want to be successful, they need to be better on the PK. After today's game, they're 26th in the league with a 74% penalty kill. This was the first game in team history where they allowed three power-play goals and won on the road.
The Jackets will now leave for Western Canada and will then finish off the road trip in Winnipeg. This was a good start. They've now earned points in six straight games, have won 6 of 8, and have gone 6-3-1 in the last 10.
Sunday's "Donkey of the Day" was Dmitri Voronkov.
