For Zach Werenski, Johnny Gaudreau, and Gavin Brindley, this is the end of the road.
The United States cruised through the preliminary round with just a little resistance until host Czechia stepped up and took them down in the playoffs. This will be seen as a letdown for the Americans, there's no doubt about that.
Zach Werenski and Johnny Gaudreau played excellent hockey for Team USA. Werenski played in eight games between the prelims and playoffs, scoring 2 goals and totaling 7 points. Johnny Gaudreau also played in eight games, scoring 3 goals and totaling 11 points. Young Gavin Brindley played in five games and scored 1 goal.
Regardless of how it ended, these were good games for these three to play. Getting more games in is never a bad thing.
