Some really good players have worn these jerseys before

With the announcement that Damon Severson (78) and Ivan Provorov (9) were officially given their numbers, it got me thinking: who has worn these numbers, and how good were they?

The #9 jersey has had a few CBJ legends wear that number. Blue Jacket original David Vyborny (01-08) had a great career as a Blue Jacket, tallying 317 points. Artemi Panarin played two seasons wearing #9 and set the franchise record for points in a season, twice. Toss in Minnesota Wild legend Mikko Koivu playing seven games back in 2000-01, #9 has been a good number to wear.

In a weird development, Damon Severson who had originally picked #28, has suddenly changed his number to 78. I had a nice piece written about the #28, but I had to hit delete.

The #78 has only been worn once ever, by Mike York in 2009. he played a whopping 1 game with the CBJ. So, nothing major to report on the history of #78, but that could change after just a few games, as Damon Severson will instantly become the greatest player to ever wear #78 if and when he scores a goal.

Who is your favorite player to wear these numbers?
