Kevin Labanc(2), Damon Severson(5), and Cole Sillinger(4) scored the goals, and Daniil Tarasov stopped 31 of 37 Edmonton shots in the loss. This one wasn't pretty.
Back on October 28th, the Blue Jackets routed the Oilers 6-1. Last night, it was evident that Edmonton wanted to return the favor.
After the Jackets jumped out to an early 1-0 lead, The Oilers scored three goals in just under seven minutes of the second period to seal it quickly. The rally was started after Leon Draisaitl scored to make it 2-1. The CBJ coaches decided to challenge for goalie interference and would lose the challenge, sending Edmonton to the power play. Mattias Ekholm would score on that power play to make it 3-1.
Connor McDavid had four assists and Leon Draisaitl had two goals in the win. Any time those two players make plays like they did last night, it doesn't end well for the opposing team.
Daniil Tarasov hadn't played in almost three weeks due to Elvis Merzļikins playing extremely well and guiding the team to points in six straight games. So, maybe it was rust. Maybe it was Edmonton wanting payback. Regardless of what it was, the Blue Jackets were overwhelmed by the Oilers in the loss.
The Blue Jackets are now 9-23-2 all-time in Edmonton.
