Daniil Tarasov Makes 45 Saves, Alex Nylander Scores Twice As Columbus Cruises Past Colorado At Nationwide Arena

Kirill Marchenko(20), Alex Nylander(9,10), and Cole Sillinger(13) provided the offense for Columbus, and Daniil Tarasov was a beast in the net, stopping 45 saves to upset massive favorite Colorado on Monday night at Nationwide Arena.

On the stat sheet, it looked as though this game was close, but the scoreboard told another story. The Avs could not solve Daniil Tarasov at all. He made some huge saves to keep the Avalanche grounded and out of the net all night. Nathan MacKinnon and Mikko Rantanen had 15 shots between the two of them and played an average of 27 minutes, but Tarasov kept them frustrated all game.

The Blue Jackets had timely scoring and ran away with this game scoring three times in the second period. Everyone in the arena knew that Colorado would make their push and they did just that. The Avs had 35 shots in the second and third periods combined and outshot the CBJ 18-4 in the third period alone, but number 40 in Union Blue kept stopping them time after time. The goal that Colorado scored was deflected and somehow made it through Daniil's pads and just crept over the line to ruin his perfect night. Stopping the Avalanche is nearly impossible, but he was able to do it most of the night.

Daniil Tarasov was the star of the show on Monday night. Are we seeing "The Real Deal Daniil?" Stay Tuned.
