Zach Werenski loves to play in his home state of Michigan, and he carried the Jackets on Tuesday night at Little Caesars Arena. Werenski would score his 5th goal of the season and pick up his 37th and 38th assists in an OT loss to the Red Wings. He also had 8 shots on goal, which now makes 29 shots on goal in his last 5 games. Werenski was a +1 and led all Jackets with 25:10 of ice time.
Alexandre Texier(11) and Kirill Marchenko(18 ppg) would also score goals in the loss.
The Blue Jackets were up 3-2 with just under 13 seconds left when Lucas Raymond scored his second of the night to tie it at 3. Patrick Kane would then win the game for the Wings 48 seconds into the overtime period to send Columbus home with a loss. Patrick Kane is the all-time Columbus killer and it's not even close.
Yet Another game the Jackets couldn't close out in the third period. They were oh so close to finishing this one out. Just before the faceoff with 13 seconds left, you could feel that Detroit would score and tie the game, and that's exactly what they did.
The CBJ fall to 23-34-12 on the season.
