NHL Player has announced that Erik Gudbranson has been suspended for a single game for acting as an aggressor in the altercation with the Panther's Nick Cousins.
Cousins was initially given a major penalty for the hit, but after a "review" by the officials, it was overturned and deemed a minor.
Gudbranson will miss Thursday's game vs. the Toronto Maple Leafs. Under the terms of the Collective Bargaining Agreement and, based on his average annual salary, Gudbranson will forfeit $20,833.33. The money goes to the Players’ Emergency Assistance Fund.
Per NHL Player Safety - "while we acknowledge his frustration, players are not excused from grossly violating league rules, in retribution or retaliation for hits thrown on them, legal or otherwise."
