When Adam Fantilli scored his 30th goal of the season the other night, it was a feat of its own. It was his first time hitting the 30-goal mark and only the ninth time a player has done so in Columbus Blue Jackets history — the 17th occurrence overall.

But it was more than just an individual milestone. Fantilli’s goal also marked only the second time in franchise history that two players have hit 30 goals in the same season. This year, Fantilli sits at 30, and Kirill Marchenko has 31.

The last time that happened? Back in 2015-16, when Boone Jenner and Brandon Saad finished with 30 and 31 goals, respectively.

If neither Fantilli nor Marchenko scores tonight, they’ll match that exact total from 2015-16.

As for Fantilli, he also becomes just the second-youngest player in Blue Jackets history to score 30 goals — behind only the legend himself, Rick Nash, who did it in 2003-04 at just 19 years old. Nash finished that year with 41 goals, a number that’s within reach for Fantilli in the coming seasons. He’s already shown elite goal-scoring ability, and hitting 40 seems like a real possibility.

What’s Next For The Blue Jackets After Missing The Playoffs? With the Columbus Blue Jackets now officially eliminated from playoff contention, they have one last game to play to round out the season.

If Fantilli were to score more than 41 in a season, he’d set a new franchise record. That mark — 41 goals — is currently shared by Nash and Cam Atkinson, who hit it in 2018-19.

At just 20 years old, Fantilli has all the tools to become the best goal scorer in franchise history. And for Blue Jackets fans, that’s something to be excited about for years to come.
