The Toronto Marlies have announced the signing of former Blue Jacket Alex Nylander today. The deal is a one-year AHL contract.

The signing of an AHL contract comes as a bit of a shock considering the season he had last year after his trade to Columbus.

Many thought he earned a deal with Columbus, but new GM Don Waddell didn't qualify him an offer and let him walk.

In 23 games for Columbus, he scored 11 goals and totaled 15 points. He played up and down the lineup and filled in nicely when the team started suffering injuries.

Nylander joins his brother William in the Toronto organization.
