Former Columbus Blue Jackets defenseman Gavin Bayreuther is back in the Metro.

The Carolina Hurricanes have signed the 31-year-old to a one-year, two-way contract for 2025-26.

Bayreuther signed as a free agent with Columbus on October 9, 2020. He played in 9 games as a Jacket before being claimed by the Seattle Kraken in the 2021 expansion draft. Seven days later, he was released by the Kraken and re-signed with the CBJ, where he would play in 103 games for Columbus and had 23 points.

he also played in parts of three seasons for the Monsters, recording 16 points.

On July 2, 2023, he signed with the team he first played for.

Bayreuther will bring some experience to the Hurricanes but it's not likely he plays very much due to Carolina's depth.
