
Former Columbus Blue Jackets forward Thomas Vanek has landed a new job with the San Jose Sharks' front office.
Today, the Sharks announced changes to their Hockey Operations department and Vanek was named as a Hockey Operations Advisor.
Vanek previously was a scout for the Sharks for the past two seasons. However, now he is transitioning into the Hockey Operations Department.
Over his 14-year career in the NHL, he played for the Buffalo Sabres, New York Islanders, Montreal Canadiens, Detroit Red Wings, Florida Panthers, Vancouver Canucks, and the Blue Jackets. In 1,029 games, he amassed 373 goals and 416 assists for 789 points. He was also a two-time 40-goal scorer, both times with the Sabres.
During his time with the Blue Jackets, he played in 19 games and had seven goals and eight assists for 15 points. At the 2018 NHL Trade Deadline, he was traded from the Canucks to the Blue Jackets for Jussi Jokinen and Tyler Motte.
Despite only playing in 19 regular season games, he also played in six playoff games with the club and scored a goal and an assist for two points against the Washington Capitals, in a 4-2 series loss.
Additionally, Tim LeRoy, was named was the Sharks' Assistant Equipment Manager was also the Head Equipment manager in Columbus for 22 years.
