After spending last season in the KHL with the Shanghai Dragons, former Columbus Blue Jackets forward Kevin Labanc is heading to Switzerland's National League. 

The SC Rapperswil-Jona Lakers have announced that they have signed Labanc to a one-year contract for the 2026-27 season.

Labanc heading to Switzerland comes after he posted 15 goals, 19 assists, and 34 points in 55 KHL games with Shanghai last season. Now, he will be looking to make a big impact with SC Rapperswil-Jona from here. 

Labanc played his final NHL season with the Blue Jackets during the 2024-25 season. In 34 games with the Metropolitan Division club that campaign, he posted two goals, 10 assists, and 12 points.

Before signing with the Blue Jackets ahead of the 2024-25 campaign, Labanc spent the previous eight seasons with the San Jose Sharks. In 512 career NHL games split between the Sharks and the Blue Jackets, he posted 84 goals, 153 assists, and 237 points. His best season in the NHL was in 2018-19 with San Jose, as he set career highs with 17 goals, 39 assists, and 56 points in 82 games.

It will now be interesting to see how much of an impact the former Blue Jackets forward can make with SC Rapperswil-Jona this upcoming season.
