Former Columbus Blue Jackets goalie Joonas Korpisalo has reportedly grown unhappy with the Boston Bruins.
In a report from James Murphy at RG, he mentioned that Korpisalo would be open to a trade that gives him more opportunity to play. Murphy reports the reason why Korpisalo could be open to the change is because of the lack of playing time.
Korpisalo, 30, had an 11-10-3 record with a 2.90 GAA and a .893 SV% through 27 games this season. At the start of the season, he was the go-to goalie because of the contract dispute with Jeremy Swayman. But once that was resolved, Korpisalo was put in the backup role and didn't get a ton of starts.
Based on how the Bruins did this season, they may feel inclined to trade him and recoup a pick or two. They could then opt to sign another goalie as their backup in free agency.
The question now is, if the Blue Jackets change their goalies this summer, would Korpisalo be a fit as a tandem goalie with Jet Greaves? Only time will tell what happens, but anything is possible.
