He never was able to find his footing in North America

Former Blue Jacket Gabriel Carlsson has left North America and joined the Växjö Lakers HC of the SHL.

Carlsson played in 75 games as a Blue Jacket, scoring 3 goals and totaling 13 points. He spent last season in the Washington Capitals organization, playing six games for the Capitals and 59 for the AHL’s Hershey Bears. In those 59 games, the big defenseman scored one goal and 14 assists.

Carlsson made his NHL debut at the end of the 2016-17 season for Columbus playing in two games, but after that, he never could catch on and play any lengthy time in Columbus.

Best of luck to Gabriel Carlsson.
