Former Cleveland Monster Cameron Gaunce Signs In Hungary

Former Monster Cameron Gaunce, and brother of former Cleveland Monsters Captain Brendan Gaunce, has signed with the Fehérvár AV19 of the win2day ICE Hockey League. The team made the announcement today.

Fehérvár AV19 plays in Székesfehérvár, Hungary, and is the top league in the region based out of Austria. They have teams in Austria, Hungary, Italy, and Slovenia.

Per a press release, "There was such an unexpected opportunity to sign a defender with more than 800 AHL and many NHL games experience, which rarely comes along," said Viktor Szélig, the team's general manager.

    Gaunce's wife has Hungarian citizenship.

Gaunce played in Cleveland for two stints. The first was at a time when the Lake Erie Monsters were the AHL affiliate for the Colorado Avalanche.  From 2010 to 2013, he played in 197 games, scoring 9 goals and totaling 60 points.

His second time playing for Cleveland was in the 2017-18 season when he signed a one-year deal with Columbus. He never played a game for the CBJ but did play in 67 games for the Cleveland Monsters. He had a good year that season, scoring 3 goals and totaling 24 points.

He has played in 37 NHL games and played last season in the Toronto Maple Leafs organization.
