Former Columbus Blue Jackets goaltender Michael Hutchinson has signed with SaiPa (Saimaan Pallo) of Liiga. SaiPa plays in Lappeenranta, Finland.

Current CBJ goalie coach Niklas Bäckström is a SaiPa alum.

SaiPa sports director Harri Aho says about Hutchinson, "We are very excited to have an experienced goalkeeper like Michael as part of the team. Mike is known for his hard work ethic and sportsmanship, which we will certainly need in the rink in the future. As a player, he also has a lot of experience in leading and mentoring younger players."

Hutchinson made 10 starts and appeared in 16 games for Columbus after being traded from Vegas in March of 2023. He went 2-6-3 with a GAA of 4.29 and a save % of .875%.

After his time in Columbus, he played one game for the Detroit Red Wings in 23-24. He signed a PTO with New Jersey this offseason but was released before the season.
