Former Columbus Captain Nick Foligno Named New Captain Of The Chicago Blackhawks

Former CBJ Captain Nick Foligno was named the new Captain of the Chicago Blackhawks today. Foligno was signed to a 2-year contract with a cap hit of $4,500,000 per season this past January. He will be 38 when his contract ends.

Foligno scored 17 goals and totaled 37 points in his first season with Chicago. His 37 points were good enough for third on the team, 24 behind Connor Bedard. He was an unbelievable mentor to Bedard last season, so there's no wonder why they named him the Captain. In two seasons, Foligno will pass the "C" to Bedard.

Foligno played 9 seasons in Columbus and 599 games. During his time in Columbus, he scored 142 goals and had 334 points. On May 20, 2015, Foligno was named the sixth Captain in CBJ history and is widely considered the best Captain the club ever had.

The Jackets welcome newly minted Captain Nick Foligno into Nationwide Arena on February 22nd.
