Columbus rookie Gavin Brindley has been chosen to represent the Columbus Blue Jackets at the 2024 NHLPA Rookie Showcase presented by Upper Deck.
The 14th annual event will be held at MedStar Capitals Iceplex in Arlington, Virginia on September 4th. The day usually ends with a scrimmage among the players.
According to the NHLPA, the event allows Upper Deck, the official trading card of the NHL, to “capture photographs and videos of many of the game’s top young prospects and rookies in their official NHL team uniforms. The content collected will be used for upcoming Upper Deck trading cards and related promotional materials.”
Gavin Brindley made his NHL debut on April 16th against the Carolina Hurricanes this past season. He played 12:20 of ice time and didn't record any points.
Brindley isn't expected to make the Blue Jackets out of camp, but crazier things have happened. He'll be 20 when the season starts, and spending a year in Cleveland isn't necessarily a bad thing for the young American.
Brindley was also chosen to represent the United States in the 2024 World Championships over the summer. He played in five games and scored a single goal.
