    Gavin Brindley Scores His First Goal At The World Championships, Johnny Gaudreau Breaks Multiple American Records As The USA Thrashes Kazakhstan

    The United States beat Kazakhstan 10-1 on Sunday.

    Columbus Blue Jacket Gavin Brindley scored his first goal today at the IIHF World Championships. The goal marked his first career goal for the USA. He has 8 career goals for Team USA at the World Juniors. Columbus Blue Jacket fans who are following the tournament have been waiting for Brindley to score. 

    Johnny Gaudreau and Zach Werenski also continued to put points on the score sheet. 

    With his four assists today, Gaudreau has now passed Patrick Kane for the most IIHF Men's World Championship assists by an American, at 30. He also scored the 10th goal of the game for the Americans, which is his third of the tournament. Gaudreau broke the American record for most points in World Championship history for the U.S. with 43. He is now the all-time leading scorer in American history at the IIHF World Championships. He had 1 goal and 5 points on the day and was named U.S. Player of the Game. 

    Zach Werenski had three assists on the day. He now has 5 points in this tournament. 

    The American squad will take on Elvis Merzļikins and Lavia on May 21st.
