The Jackets took a loss at the hands of the Arizona Coyotes on Thursday night. It wasn't necessarily a bad loss either. All things considered; it was a very good hockey game.
Damon Severson put the Blue Jackets up 1-0, just 1:45 into the second period when he launched a rocket from the left circle just seconds after the CBJ power play ended.
Five minutes later the Yotes would get on the board when Barrett Hayton cleaned up a rebound from Elvis to tie it at 1.
The third period had lots of back-and-forth hockey and a few chances by each team, but no one could score. And then, Arizona unleashed 28 seconds of heartache on the Jackets. Logan Cooley scored the first power-play goal against the Blue Jackets since October 28th on a snapshot from the top of the circle to beat Elvis. The Coyotes would lead 2-1 after that goal. And then, 28 seconds later, Lawson Crouse would score the game-winner. A turnover behind Merzlikin's net set up a pass from Bjugstad to Crouse who didn't miss.
The Jackets would pull to within one goal when defenseman Damon Severson scored his 2nd goal of the night. With Elvis pulled for the extra attacker, Severson would take a shot from the top of the circle again to beat Ingram making it 3-2.
That's how the game would end. The Jackets fall 3-2.
