Jackets Fall Flat As Bruins Win The Season Series
The game took a few minutes to gain some steam, with neither team able to get any good momentum going. The first period saw the Jackets take three penalties that gave the Bruins a pair of power plays, but the CBJ PK would stand tall and kill them off. The first period would end scoreless with the Jackets outshooting the B's 12-5
The second started almost immediately with a Bruins goal. Kevin Shattenkirk let a shot go from along the left wall above the circle and scored. CBJ goalie Spencer Martin didn't even react to the shot until it was by him. Kent Johnson scored his 6th of the season just over four minutes into the second to tie it at 1. Provorov and Voronkov assisted the goal. It was a blistering wrist shot from the top and in between the circles. Matt Grzelcyk went to the box for holding at 8:41 to give the CBJ a power play, which the Bruins would kill. With 8:48 left the Bruins would get their own PP when Damon Severson went off for tripping. The Bruins scored with 5 seconds left on that power play to make it 2-1. James Van Riemsdyk was credited with the goal.
A little over seven minutes into the third, Danton Heinen scored to make it 3-1. David Jiricek had a bad turnover deep in the CBJ D-Zone that caused the goal. With four minutes left, The Bruins would seal the game when Trent Frederic scored his 10th goal of the season. Bruins would win 4-1.
