The CBJ hold on after scoring 4 unanswered goals

The Jackets jumped on the Blues early and tried to bury them in the second, but the Blues had other plans.

Five different players had goals for the Jackets, and 10 players had points in the 5-3 win. After taking a 4-0 lead just five minutes into the second period, the Blues would score the next three goals to make it 4-3. A pair of goals from Jakub Vrana and a PPG by Sammy Blais made the CBJ faithful inside Nationwide Arena a little nervous. The score stood at 4-3 for 16 minutes in the third before Johnny Gaudreau buried an empty netter to seal it for the Jackets.

  • Justin Danforth (1) - Voronkov (1) - 17:24 of the 1st period

Quick Reactions

Jet Greaves looked solid in the net against the Blues. Greaves made 36 saves for a save % of .923. The Blues shot every chance they got and Greaves made some really good saves.

Patrik Laine started at center and looked good. For this only being the fourth time he's played a game at center, he looked decent. He played just over 16 minutes, had an assist and finished with a faceoff % of 57.1 %, and was a +2 on the night. Although this may not end up being his main job on the team, he's showing that he can do it, and do it well. He should continue to practice and learn the position.

The Jackets took 10 PIMs on Monday and the Blues scored twice on those powerplays. The Jackets are giving up way too many penalties, and giving up way too many PPG as a result. It doesn't matter who is in the net, if you give the other team 10-12 PIMs a game, they're going to make you pay. The Jackets have to clean that up when the season starts.
