The Columbus Blue Jackets started in on the St. Louis Blues just 1:42 into the game when Kirill Marchenko took a pass from Dmitri Voronkov and squeaked a puck past Blues goalie Joel Hofer to make it 1-0. The Blues would answer later in the period to tie it on a Robert Thomas goal. With three minutes left on the first, Adam Fantilli would score his 8th goal of the season to make it 2-1. From there, the Jackets wouldn't look back. The second period would go scoreless for both teams.
In the third period, Yegor Chinakhov scored a pair of goals, and Alexandre Texier would get an empty net goal to make it a 5-2 final.
The story of the night would be young goalie Jet Greaves. Making just his second NHL start, Greaves would stop 41 of 43 shots, including 4 on the power play. Through two periods, Greaves had only faced 19 shots, but in the third, the Blues started to get desperate. The Blue would pump in 24 shots on Greaves in the third period and stop all but one.
Injury News
Boone Jenner did suffer some injury to his face in this game. According to Pascal Vincent, Expect to hear news that's “more worse than good.” Jenner has been outstanding for Columbus this year, and losing him for any lengthy period could be devastating.
