Davidson was asked about his confidence in Pascal Vincent and who would evaluate him as a coach going forward. Davidson said, "I think that in a situation like this, we all know, everybody knows that when a new person comes in, he's going to evaluate and make his own decisions. I think that's just the way the business goes. I look forward to seeing what that person, whenever he gets to our organization, what he thinks, and how he's going to analyze and make the decisions. That's the only thing that makes any common sense to me in this situation. If a new man comes in and he's got different ideas, then it's going to be his decision that we have to listen to."
Davidson was also asked about the GM search and where they are in the process. "We're in the beginning of the whole thing basically. There's a lot of people that have either emailed or called. We'll weed the list down and see what fits our criteria. It's very difficult to go to an organization and say, listen can we talk to such and such? And they'll say sure, but you have to wait until our seasons over. We'd like to get it done yesterday obviously, but the reality is, it's going to take some time," Davidson says.
He also said "It's something you want to get done, but you just can't right now. You just can't snap your fingers and ok that's the guy because there's so many moving parts as to when you can talk to people, and when you can't. So you may as well be as patient as possible to do the best job you can to get the right person for the organization. So, no rush into anything, at all. Just get the right person, that's the key."
Davidson also said that they took a sensible approach to the deadline since they didn't have the new GM in place at that time.
He also talks about the trade deadline, the recent play of Daniil Tarasov, and of course dogs.
