With Kirill Marchenko unlikely to extend in Columbus, let us take a crack at a trade scenario.

The Columbus Blue Jackets find themselves in a familiar situation: Yet another superstar who wants out. This one is a little odd since Marchenko hasn't even reached UFA yet.

That being said, it's time to start looking at possible trade scenarios involving teams that could be interested in Kirill Marchenko.

GM Don Waddell said he was caught off guard by the "news" that ESPN's Kevin Weekes dropped on the world at the NHL Draft. Reports are that the Montréal Canadiens are hot after Marchenko, and have even made an offer already.

According to reports, the Canadiens put a "huge" offer in on Marchenko.

So, let's take a look at a proposal, and you tell us if it's doable.

David Reinbacher

David Reinbacher is signed to a 3 year, $2,704,998 contract with a cap hit of $901,666 per season, which expires in 2028. The former #5 overall pick in 2023 has played 78 games for the Laval Rocket of the AHL, and has 34 points.

Various scouting reports say Reinbacher is widely projected to be a top-four, two-way defenseman. He provides immense value to a lineup with his ability to shut down rush plays, make smart decisions, and stabilize the defensive zone.

Michael Hage

Hage was drafted 21st overall by Montréal in 2024. He's going into his third year at the University of Michigan after putting up 86 points in his first two years. Before that, he spent two years with the Chicago Steel of the USHL, totaling 86 points in 67 games.

Various scouting reports say Hage possesses one of the highest ceilings in the Canadiens' prospect pool. Scouts project him as a high-offense top-six center or winger who will be a major asset in transition and on the power play.

2027 First-Round Pick

This pick would be in the 20-25 range, assuming the Canadiens continue up their upward trajectory.
