The Cleveland Monsters are about to get a bit more gritty next season.

Max McCue, the Sudbury, Ontario native is coming to town, and won't be afraid to drop the gloves in his AHL rookie season. McCue signed his ELC with the Columbus Blue Jackets on Mar. 1, 2024, and will be looking to make his mark.

McCue played four seasons for the OHLs London Knights. He played in 218 regular season games for London and got better every year.

He only played in 34 games in his first season and had six points. In what was supposed to be his second year in London, he couldn't play because the league shut down due to Covid.

The 21-22 season saw him play in 64 games, score 9 goals, and total 35 points. He also had 51 PIMs. In the 22-23 season he took another step forward. He had 39 points in 58 games and had 69 PIMs. In the season that just concluded, McCue exploded in what would be his best year in London. In 62 games, he scored 27 goals and had 61 points. He also tossed in a staggering 110 PIMs. In 18 playoff games, he had 22 points.

He finished his junior career with 51 goals and 141 points.

McCue is going to bring some extra snarl to the Cleveland Monsters. He'll be joining James Malatesta, Hunter McKown, Cameron Butler, and Trey Fix-Wolansky. Needless to say, the Monsters are going to be a handful to play against next season.

The Hockey News OHL site talked about McCue in March and had the following to say:

With Columbus, I see McCue as a future bottom-six forward. He has that grit and agitated-nature that has become so valuable in today's game, but he can also provide some secondary scoring. He will likely play in the AHL/ECHL for a couple of seasons at least, but I see him being dominant at both of those levels.

Cleveland fans could be in for a treat next season with McCue.
