The Worcester Railers hosted the Reading Royals on Saturday night in Worcester and paid tribute to Matthew Gaudreau. Gaudreau played for both teams during his ECHL career.
As the two teams lined up for the opening puck drop, both would only send four men to center ice. After the puck was dropped, it was slid over to where Matthew should've been. The officials let 21 seconds tick off of the clock to honor the fallen Gaudreau.
Matthew played 127 career games in the ECHL for both Reading and Worcester. He scored 35 goals and totaled 100 career points in his ECHL career. His best year came during the 19-20 season when he scored 11 goals and had 40 points.
He played his last ECHL game on December 31, 2021.
Johnny and Matthew Gaudreau's memories continue to live on.
