Mock Trade Sends Patrik Laine To Toronto

Now that Patrik Laine has been discharged from the Player Assistance Program, teams can talk to him and his agent to try to work out a trade. 

Since the news broke that he wanted a fresh start with another team, mock trades have been everywhere. Most of those mock trades were immediately shot down by fans for a few reasons. The top reason is that CBJ fans want a haul in return for the talented Finn. Some of the trades made little sense is the second reason. 

So when we do see one that makes sense, we like to talk about it. 

Cole Shelton of Heavy On Maple Leafs found a very interesting trade proposal put forth by a fan using PuckPedia's GM Mode. And to be honest, It's not all that bad. 

The trade would involve players and picks.

A lot of fans don't expect much in return for Laine since it went public that he wanted out. Do the Blue Jackets have any leverage in this situation? A trade like this seems like a no-brainer, especially getting back a first-round pick. 

Laine could change his mind and make all of this moot, but it sounds like they've passed that and are moving toward a trade.
