NHL Reverse Power Rankings: April 8th, 2024

Here we are, the final stretch.

With teams only having four or five games left on the schedule, the top (bottom) four teams are all but set in stone. San Jose will win the chase for getting the best odds in the draft, now it'll be up to the NHL to decide who deserves to draft Macklin Celebrini.

Let's look at the Reverse Power Rankings for April 8th, 2024, and who they could draft.

  1. San Jose Sharks - 77gp; 44pts -  Macklin Celebrini, C, Boston University - 61 points in 36 games.
  2. Chicago Blackhawks - 77gp; 51pts - Ivan Demidov, RW/C, St. Petersburg (MHL) - 60 points in 30 games.
  3. Anaheim Ducks - 78gp; 55pts - Artyom Levshunov, D, Michigan State - 34 points in 36 games.
  4. Columbus Blue Jackets - 78gp; 64pts - Cayden Lindstrom, F, Medicine Hat (WHL) - 46 points in 32 games.
  5. Montreal Canadiens - 77gp; 70pts - Carter Yakemchuk, D, Calgary Hitmen (WHL) - 71 points in 66 games.

The rest of the Reverse Top 10 is as follows:

    6. Arizona Coyotes - 71 points

    7. Ottawa Senators - 72 points

    8. Calgary Flames - 73 points

    9. Seattle Kraken - 77 points

    10. Buffalo Sabres - 79 points

The Columbus Blue Jackets will most likely finish in the fourth spot. They have Tampa Bay, Florida, Nashville, and Carolina left on the schedule, which is not the easiest way to finish the season. If you're on the side of tanking, then this finish is for you. But, if you're on the side of finishing strong, welp, not this year.

What's Next - The Jackets are in Tampa to face the Lightning on Tuesday.
