On the first Monday following the NHL draft, the deadline for teams to extend qualifying offers to their RFAs is due. Today is that day, and they have until 5 PM.
Waddell has already taken care of Mikael Pyyhtiä, so now he has a lot of work to do today.
The Jackets have more than a few due offers, so let's take a look at the players and what a qualifying offer is.
Restricted Free Agency: RFAs are players whose contracts have expired, but their original team still has the right to match any offer sheet they receive from another team or receive draft pick compensation if they don't.
Qualifying Offer: A qualifying offer is a one-year contract offer that a team must extend to an RFA to retain their rights.
What Happens If Not Qualified: If a team does not extend a qualifying offer by the deadline, the RFA becomes an unrestricted free agent and can sign with any team.

Waddell may let one of the guys from Cleveland walk, in particular Bjørgvik-Holm. Last season was the first season he was really given a shot to play full-time. Bjørgvik-Holm is a true stay-at-home defender who played 44 games last season on the Monsters' blue line, totaling 7 points. He also had 50 PIM, something he told me two seasons ago that he wanted to add to his game. Snarl is something he said he wanted to add.
