The Athletic's Chris Johnson has reported that the Noah Dobson sweepstakes are down to two teams - The Montreal Canadiens and Columbus Blue Jackets.

Per Johnson, "league sources tell The Athletic they are down to two potential suitors: the Montreal Canadiens and Columbus Blue Jackets."

It is Dobson’s wish to join a team on the upswing toward contention, and both of those landing spots are viewed as favorable.

Dobson has played 388 games for the Islanders and has 230 points. His career year came in 2023-24 when he scored 10 goals and totaled 70 points. More importantly, he is a right-shot defenseman, and that is something that the Jackets covet.

Dobson is a restricted free agent, and contract experts put his next deal north of $9.5 million per season. With the salary cap skyrocketing over the next few seasons, this amount of money is going to be very common.

Can Don Waddell outbid the Montreal Canadiens? Stay tuned.
