The Columbus Blue Jackets are signing former San Jose Sharks forward Kevin Labanc to a one-year, one-way contract according to THN San Jose's Max Miller. The deal is for $775,000.

Labanc played 478 games with San Jose. He scored 82 goals and totaled 225 points.

Kevin Labanc signed a PTO with the New Jersey Devils this summer and led the NHL in goals with six, including a hat trick.

Don Waddel said in a press release, “Kevin Labanc has been a productive offensive player in this league for several years." “He has an excellent shot and playmaking ability and given his character we believe he will fit in very well with our group.”

The Jackets are dealing with injuries already this season. They've lost Dmitri Voronkov, Gavin Brindley, and possibly Boone Jenner to injury. The season has not started very well in terms of health.

The season starts on October 10, and Don Waddell has repeatedly stated that they need to sign some players.

    Kevin Labanc is a start.
