Columbus Blue Jackets head coach Rick Bowness gave some bad news for CBJ fans today.
Bowness told the media after practice today that defenseman Damon Severson won't be available for the season opener Thursday against the Buffalo Sabres.
He went on to say that they are aiming for game three, which isn't until October 9th against Pittsburgh, to be his comeback date.
Bowness says, “At this point, unless a doctor clears him on Thursday, he won’t be playing. It’s hard to put a timeline on it. The most optimistic we would look at would be Game 3, but there’s certainly no guarantee of that.”
They are waiting for Severson to be fully cleared by doctors before putting him out on the ice.
Severson had shoulder surgery late last season, and is seemingly fully recovered, but they are being very cautious with him it seems.
