Jackets lose ugly

There's only one word to describe Wednesday's loss to the Montreal Canadiens...UGLY. Ugly play from the Jackets, ugly play from the Habs, and ugly officiating. I say the officiating was ugly because there was no officiating in this game. The Jackets had one powerplay and probably should've had a few more, but the whistles were swallowed.

Patrik Laine got the CBJ on the board in the second when he stole a puck in the neutral zone and shot down the ice to create a breakaway in which he would score on Montreal goalie Sam Montembeault to make it 1-0. Laine made a few mistakes on Wednesday night after his goal, he called his night "awful."

Yegor Chinakhov scored to make it 2-1 Jackets later in the period on a great sequence. Zach Werenski knocked down a clearing attempt and kept it in the Columbus offensive zone. He made a crisp pass to a waiting Dmitri Voronkov who was camped to the right of Montembeault, but instead of re-directing for a shot, he passed it back across the ice in front of the crease to a charging Yegor Chinakhov who took his time collecting it and shot it into the net. Chinakhov, Voronkov, and Werenski were the three best players on the ice for the Jackets.

That would be all the scoring the Jackets could muster on this night. The Canadiens would score the next two goals to make it 4-2 and hand the CBJ a home loss.
