It's with the deepest sadness to report that Columbus Blue Jackets forward Johnny Gaudreau, has passed away at the age of 31.  His brother Matthew has also passed away at the age of 29.

Per the New Jersey State Police, the brothers were struck and killed by a vehicle while riding bikes in Oldmans Township, Salem County, New Jersey on Thursday evening. The police reported that the driver of the vehicle did stay at the scene of the accident.

The team also confirmed the tragic news this morning

The Gaudreau family was all together for the wedding of their sister Katie, who was supposed to get married today.

Rumors of his passing started just before 11 P.M. on X. THN Columbus reached out to the New Jersey State Police Public Information Office, but they would not confirm, nor deny anything.

Sadly, it was reported today that Johnny Gaudreau, along with his brother Matthew, had passed away last night, killed by a vehicle while riding their bikes.

Johnny leaves behind his wife Meredith and two young children. Johnny and Meredith were married on September 4th, 2021. Shortly after signing with Columbus in 2022, Meredith gave birth to their first child, Noa Harper Gaudreau. On February 22nd of this year, the Gaudreau's had another child. This time a boy named Johnny Edward Gaudreau.
