Earlier this off-season, the Columbus Blue Jackets lost forward Mason Marchment in free agency to the San Jose Sharks. The 6-foot-4 winger signed a five-year, $33.75 million contract with the Sharks and will now be a key part of their roster as they look to become a playoff team. 

While seeing Marchment sign elsewhere in free agency was not too surprising, it still was tough news for the Blue Jackets. The 31-year-old forward was a great fit on Columbus' roster and proved to be a very good mid-season trade addition for the Metropoltian Division club. 

In 39 games with the Blue Jackets last season after being acquired from the Seattle Kraken, Marchment posted 15 goals, 17 assists, 32 points, 46 hits, and a plus-21 rating. With numbers like these, he was a very important part of the Blue Jackets' roster during his brief stint with the team.

The Blue Jackets will miss Marchment's contributions and will be relying on their forwards to help make up for his departure. In the end, he was a very solid addition to the Blue Jackets' roster, and he should give the Sharks a big boost now that they have landed him.
