Dmitri Voronkov scored the lone Columbus goal while on the power play 12:05 into the first, and that would be all she wrote for the Blue Jackets on Friday night in front of a packed Nationwide Arena.
Zemgus Girgensons and Connor Clifton scored the two goals for the Buffalo Sabres, which would be enough for the win. For what it's worth, both goals were flukey, but sometimes those kinds of goals are all it takes to win.
Although Daniil Tarasov was spectacular against the Sabres, the offense in front of him couldn't get anything going to help him out. He was pulled with just under three minutes to go in the game to give the Jackets the extra attacker, but in that time the CBJ could barely get a shot on goal. It was not a pretty site to watch the Jackets try to equalize the game and that's how it would end.
The Sabres take down the Jackets 2-1.
