Werenski Calls Out Department of Safety

Zach Werenski was asked his opinion about the Nick Cousins hit on Jackets defenseman Erik Gudbranson. Werenski says the hit was "one of the worst hits I've ever seen live in a game." He goes on to say "You just don't do that."

Zach says "Honestly I don't know how he's not suspended, how he didn't get a hearing, how they reduced it from a major to a minor. I'm more so just mind-blown at the Department of Safety for not doing anything. Their job is to protect players and that's the one hit, if I'm out there on the ice, that I don't want to take is that one. So, good on Guddy for standing up for himself." He also says "It's just one of those hits that cannot happen in the game of hockey."

"I was sick to my stomach on the bench watching that happen," Werenski adds.

Zach goes on to add some more insight and opinions on the hit. You can listen to the full interview below.
