By now, everyone around the NHL should have Zach Werenski in the top two for Norris Trophy voting. He has shown this season he is a top-five defensemen and after last night's game against the New York Rangers, he should be treated as one.

Columbus Blue Jackets fans have known this for years, they watched him slowly climb up the ranks of being one of the best to ever wear the jersey.

Last night, Werenski passed the best to ever wear the jersey, Rick Nash, in all-time assists and with that set a new franchise record.

Werenski recorded his 259th and 260th assist last night passing Nash who only had 258 in his 674 games with Columbus. Zach needed just 548 games to get his 260th assist and passed the legend to set a new franchise record.

With 20 goals and 48 assists for 68 points in 62 games played, Werenski leads the Blue Jackets in scoring and currently sits second in the NHL amongst defensemen, trailing only Cale Makar, who has 75 points.
