Columbus Blue Jackets defenseman address the media today after a short workout and some on ice time.
Werenski was asked about everything that happened this summer and the rumors.
"I wanted to address them sooner, but I really didn't know what was going on, so I was trying to figure everything out. Like I said, I'm just really happy with how it all unfolded, and I'm still wearing this hoodie today (glances down at CBJ hoodie) with the Blue Jackets logo on it. This is where I want to be. I felt that way from day 1, and just excited to get back and get this thing going."
“I think my statement is exactly how I feel. I want to win. I want to win here in Columbus, and that’s all I’m focused on.”
He also said, “Ideally, I’m here for the long term.”
"I know how good this city is when the team's in the playoffs. On the other side of that, it's been too long since we've been there, and I want to be a reason that we're back in it, and I want to see Nationwide like that again."
About Adam Fantilli, "I'm sure he'll get signed and it'll get done. I wouldn't be too worried. I haven't had in-depth convos with him obviously. I ask him and he wants to be here and he's putting the work in."
He did the entire interview with a smile on his face, too. He did mention that this would be the only day he would address this topic, though. Once the season starts, he will not answer questions about his future, and it will be off-limits.
