The Biloxi, Mississippi born right winger will continue protecting his young teammates for two more years

The Blue Jackets announced today that they have signed RW Mathieu Olivier to a two-year contract extension, worth $2.2 million, or $1.1 AAV.

The 26-year-old forward played in 66 games last season for the CBJ, scoring 5 goals and 20 points. He added 81 PIMs.

Per a Blue Jackets release, GM Jarmo Kekalainen said "He brings size, physicality and character to our lineup and we are excited that he will continue to be part of the Blue Jackets family." Which, on a team with a lot of young kids, his presence is needed.

He became a fan favorite with his willingness to fight and take up for his teammates. Pitching in with an occasional goal and assist, he seems to be a valuable piece to this puzzle.
