Elvis Merzlikins Says He Has Requested A Trade
Elvis Merzlikins said in his postgame press conference today that he has requested a trade away from the Columbus Blue Jackets.
Last week, he told the media that he and the Jackets have agreed to "find a new scenario for him." He made the comments after having not played in a game since December 29th. Elvis was frustrated by not playing, and either being a backup or a healthy scratch.
Monday he stopped the Vancouver Canucks winning streak by making 27 saves and not allowing a goal in the overtime or shootout, he was very good in this game.
After the game, he was very emotional. When the final horn went off, he skated away from his crease, threw a leg and an arm in the sky, and celebrated. His teammates mobbed him as well.
After the game, he gave two interviews, one with Bally Sports, and the other in the locker room with the media. In both, he was understandably fired up.
In the locker room, he went on to say “After my last interview that everyone knows I requested for trade, everyone was still here playing for me and they’re playing for me and blocking the shots for me and this is awesome. I really appreciate them. It was a really easy game for me.”

Now we wait. Will a trade come in season or during the summer? Will it come at all? Stay tuned.
