2024 Columbus Blue Jackets Draft Projections: Cole Eiserman

THN's own Ryan Kennedy released his Mid-Term 2024 NHL Draft Rankings: The First Round Projection on The Hockey News main site in February. And it got us thinking, who in the top 5 should the CBJ draft?

One name that has been rising up the draft board recently is forward Cole Eiserman.

In his article from February Kennedy says about Eiserman:

Cole Eiserman, LW, U.S. NTDP (USHL): The best goal-scorer in the draft class, Eiserman could break Cole Caufield's NTDP career goals record this year - but scouts are worried that's the only thing he's concentrating on. I liked him at the All-American Prospects Game (where the stats didn't count towards his NTDP total), but I have to listen to the experts.

Stats: He played for the U18 NTDP where he scored 49 goals and had 77 points.

    Measurements: 6-foot, 198 pounds

    What Scouts Are Saying

Andy Miller - DraftProspectsHockey.com - January 9th, 2024 - Eiserman’s vision on the offensive side of the game is next level. He sees options out there that most don’t. He finds the puck or it finds him and he can create time and space to gain zone entries or to create chances if in the zone. Eiserman constantly has his eyes scanning the ice so he is aware where everyone is and knows who is covered and who is open.

Tony Ferrari - The Hockey News - November 22nd, 2023 - Eiserman’s shot is undeniably elite. That alone should make him a highly regarded prospect in this draft class. His finishing talent is as good as anyone in the last few years.

TheBlueChipProspect.com - March 7th, 2024 - In the offensive zone, Eiserman demonstrates commendable competitiveness, warranting an average grade. Although he may not consistently engage in battles deep in the corners or perform the gritty work as some might prefer, he remains involved along the boards. Additionally, his deceptive strength allows him to prevail in puck battles more often than expected. Eiserman isn’t hesitant to forecheck aggressively when an opportunity arises, showcasing effectiveness in this aspect as well.

The Blue Jackets are in need of elite scorers, and from what is being written about Eiserman, he is just that. Some scouts say he is hot and cold in terms of his game and could stand to play a little more defense, but that can be taught.

Eiserman is committed to Boston University.

The Columbus Blue Jackets should land a really good player with their pick this year, but will Cole Eiserman be that pick?
