Cole Fonstad has left North America and has signed a contract with the Straubing Tigers of the Deutsche Eishockey Liga (DEL) in Germany. He was chosen 128th overall in the 2018 NHL Draft by the Montreal Canadiens.
The Estevan, Saskatchewan native had played the last two seasons with the Cleveland Monsters after turning pro in 2021. Fonstad played 117 games in Cleveland, scoring 24 goals and 51 points. Last season he played 70 games, scoring 15 goals and 30 points, being one of the healthiest players on the roster.
With the influx of talent that the Blue Jackets have coming in, this comes as no surprise to fans who follow the CBJ.
Best of luck to Cole Fonstad in Germany.
