Brad Elliott Schlossman of the Grand Forks Herald, has reported that Columbus draft pick William Whitelaw has entered his name into the NCAA transfer portal, and intends to leave the University Of Wisconsin Badgers Hockey program.
The 19-year-old Whitelaw from Rosemount, Minnesota, played in 37 games for the Badgers, scoring 10 goals and totaling 17 points.
Before playing his freshman season for Wisconsin, Whitelaw played for the USHL's Youngstown Phantoms. For Youngstown he played in parts of two seasons totaling 71 games and recorded 64 points. He also played 11 playoff games and had 10 points.
There is no indication where Whitelaw will transfer as of yet. Being that he's from hockey crazed Minnesota, one can assume he'll be moving back to his home state to join one of the six division 1 programs there.
