On September 5th, in Arlington, Virginia, the 13th annual NHLPA Rookie Showcase will take place, and the Columbus Blue Jackets will have three players who will be showcasing themselves to the hockey world.
The Columbus Blue Jackets and the Montreal Canadiens will both be sending a trio of players to the showcase, leading for most players selected.
The Jackets will be represented by 3rd overall pick Adam Fantilli, 2022 pick Denton Mateychuk, and 2021 pick Stanislav Svozil. Other NHL picks like Connor Bedard and Leo Carlsson will be there as well.
According to the NHLPA, the event allows Upper Deck, - the official trading card of the NHL – to “capture photographs and videos of many of the game’s top young prospects and rookies in their official NHL team uniforms. The content collected will be used for upcoming Upper Deck trading cards and related promotional materials.”
The day will end with a scrimmage among the players.
Adam Fantilli is expected to make the team out of camp and could be the top center sometime this season. Stanislav Svozil could very well see NHL time this season but is expected to start his season in Cleveland. Meanwhile, Denton Mateychuk, who just recently turned 19 should be headed back to the Moose Jaw Warriors of the WHL, and will most likely go pro after this season.
