Brothers in Stars Lineup for the First Time in Ten Years

The Dallas Stars had their first set of brothers in the lineup since the 2016-2017 when Jordie Benn was on the roster with his brother, captain Jamie Benn. Due to injuries, Dylan Hryckowian was called up with Matthew Seminoff to slot into the lineup for Radek Faksa and Sam Steel.

D. Hryckowian joins his brother, Justin Hryckowian, in the lineup. J. Hryckowian played his first full season with the Dallas Stars last season. He was signed to a entry-level contract in March of 2024 after joining the Texas Stars for their playoff run when his college season at Northeastern Universtiy concluded. In J. Hryckowian's season with the Texas Stars, he put up 60 points 67 games and found himself on the AHL All-Rookie Team. Since moving up to the NHL, he has been an intregal part of the Stars lineup and even made himself a fan-favorite after being seen chirping Connor McDavid.

D. Hryckowian followed in his brother's footsteps by going to Northeastern University and then joining the Texas Stars for their short playoff run last season. It was obvious at training camp that D. Hryckowian was on the bubble of making the NHL roster, but due to the depth of the Stars, there was no room for him. It is no surprise that he was one of the first to be called up, despite this being his third game in three days.

Head coach, Glen Gulutzan, pulled a very classy move and started the brothers for their game against the New York Islanders. They were put on a line with Benn, which feels full circle. D. Hryckowian will likely be sent back down when some of the forwards return to the lineup, but it is a special moment for the Hryckowian family.
