Meanwhile, veteran Roope Hintz has an upper-body injury.

DALLAS - Head coach Pete DeBoer provided several injury updates following Wednesday’s practice at Comerica Center.

Forward Chase Wheatcroft suffered a fracture after blocking a shot during Tuesday night’s game against the Wild that will cost him some time.

“I don’t know the exact details, but it’s going to be a little while,” said DeBoer. “They’re talking weeks, obviously.”

    Wheatcroft, 21, signed a three-year, entry-level contract in March.

He ranked second in WHL scoring last season - behind only Connor Bedard - with 107 points (47 goals, 60 assists) in 68 games as a member of the Prince George Cougars.

Meanwhile, forward Roope Hintz is battling an upper-body injury.

“He’s dealing with a little something,” confirmed DeBoer. “I’m not concerned about it, but enough that we’re not going to push it because of the time and the runway we have here.”

Fortunately, goaltender Scott Wedgewood is healthy after a third-period incident involving Wild forward Pat Maroon.

“He was fine,” said DeBoer. “He was going through an evaluation right after the game. It’s always the next day that you really get a true idea of whether he’s dealing with anything. He had a full practice, so he’s good.”
